Update on August 7, 2021. We still do not have a schedule to restart, safely. I hope everyone is doing well. It has been a while since you heard from us about Black Walnut. Our team has confirmed that we cannot restart the Black Walnut Acoustic Open Stage under the current restrictions on public gatherings with live music and the City of Kitchener policies for use of the community centres. We understand and support those restrictions as part of what we all need to do to protect the health of ourselves and our community.
We miss seeing you and we miss the music and look forward to a time when we can all get together again.
We have been advised that The Mill Courtland Community Center will be fully closed from March 16, 2020 until the end of June. The next Acoustic Open Stage is planned for September 18, 2020. We will confirm or update that schedule prior to September 18th. (Update there is still no schedule to restart as of September 2020.)
(Event Cancelled) You are invited to the next Black Walnut Acoustic Open Stage Event Friday, March 20, 2020 starting at 7:30pm. Bring your guitars, accordions, voices, acoustic instruments of all sorts or just your eyes and ears and make yourself feel at home. Do not feel shy because you have not played for us before. The doors will open and sign-up for the open stage will start at 7:15 pm. Remember when you sign up you get to play/sing two songs in a set of 10 minutes or less and you need to be ready to start playing when your turn starts so you won’t lose any of your 10 minutes. The entrance and free parking are at the back of the Mill-Courtland Community Centre and admission is still $3 at the door. the facility is wheelchair accessible, alcohol, smoke and peanut free and every show is different. If you don’t come, you’ll miss it. The next open stage will be April17th.
