Acoustic Open Stage

Friday, June 21, 2019 Open Stage – How it Was

Posted by on Jun 28, 2019 | 0 comments

We had a surprisingly large turnout of both listeners and performers. A big surprise visit was from Julio from Columbia, who is here for the summer and played guitar, ukulele and a beat box. It was a special treat to see and hear his performance. We were a bit anxious since 3 of our mainstays for the production were away for the evening. Thanks to Carol for filling in to run the coffee shop and Gord to set up and run the sound system. The rest of us were busier than usual too. That will be our last Open stage night until we start up again on Friday, September 20th. Our performers on June 21, 2019 were

March 15, 2019 Black Walnut Acoustic Open Stage

Posted by on Mar 20, 2019 | 0 comments

This is how it was. On Friday night we had a time of reflection for memorial songs and some Irish themed songs, even some singing along. Mostly there were lots of performers including 3 first timers for Black Walnut and Jay Collins with his newest guitar that he built and strung in time for the Black Walnut. We ran out of time, so the last 4 performers who signed up after we started the event only got to sing one song each. The next Black Walnut Acoustic Open Stage will be Friday, April 19, 7-30 – 10 pm. On March 15th the performers, in order of appearance were:
Carol McMullen
Jake Willis
Ron Hammar
Hayley Nordquist – NEW
Jakki Annerino
David Maranta
Gordon Castle
Wayne Cheater
Neil Light
Cam & Pat
Scott Abrams
Jay Collins
Angie & Darrell – NEW
Richard Reinhardt
Dan Hergottt
Human
Matthias Schonlau

Thanks to Crossgrain and lots of Performers and Helpers February 15th

We tried out an early start time of 7:30 pm and found that only about one third of people got the message, so we actually delayed the start until 7:40 pm. I understand that next month, on March 15th, there will be no mercy If you’re late, you will miss the start of the show.

Crossgrain was the featured performer, consisting of Doug Peterman, Shane Purdy & Mike Ryan who played a wide variety of selections on 6 different instruments that were passed around on-stage. We will post a snapshot of the group on our Performers Pictures page, thanks to Joanne. Our Open stage performers were:
Wayne Cheater
Patrick LeBlanc
Greg DeGroot-Magetti
Ron Hammar
Gordon Castle
David Maranta
Jakki Annerino
Dan Hergott

Crossgrain is Sean Purdy, Mike Ryan and Doug Peterman plus seven instruments and counting. Doug says, “We like lots of different music. We also like to hear and play music in new ways. If you come listen to us you are bound to hear some old friends, but they might be wearing new clothes. And you might just find some new friends too.”
